JAMES BROWN WILHELM

Jim attributes his early love of building and architecture to sneaking into construction sites of homes being built in his Ohio neighborhood growing up. An 8th Grade presentation by his friend’s father, architect Stephen Bucchieri, cemented this passion. Years later, Jim worked for Stephen and views him as a mentor and integral role in his becoming an architect. Jim has worked for several award-winning firms in San Francisco (BAR; Backen Gillam Kroeger; Ken Linsteadt), New York (Mitchell/Giurgola) and Seattle (David Coleman; Richard Hiner) before starting his own practice concentrating in residential design and construction in 2018.

Jim involves the client in every aspect of the design and believes it is this collaboration that creates successful and unique projects. Jim actively seeks to create architecture that reflects the interests, lifestyles and passions of his clients and remains open to the possibilities and solutions that come out of architect-owner-contractor discussions.

“It’s amazing how much can be accomplished if no one cares who gets the credit” - John Wooden

“If I were giving a young man advice as to how he might succeed in life, I would say to him, pick out a good father and mother, and begin life in Ohio” -Wilbur Wright
